Desk Marathi (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the Desk Marathi
mobile application and the website

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected
when you use the Desk Marathi mobile application, why it is
collected, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Collect
The Desk Marathi app does not require users to register, create
an account, or provide personal profile information.
Device and Application Information
Firebase services may automatically process limited technical information, including:
- App version
- Operating system version
- Device model, brand, and form factor
- Firebase installation identifier
- Firebase SDK versions
- Application installation and notification-delivery information
- The application used to install Desk Marathi, such as Google Play
The Firebase installation identifier identifies an app installation.
It is not intended to directly identify an individual person.
Notification Information
If you enable notifications, the app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to:
- Register the app installation for notifications
- Subscribe the installation to selected news categories
- Deliver breaking-news and category notifications
- Open the related news article when a notification is selected
Notification permission is optional. You can deny or disable
notifications at any time through the app settings or your Android
device settings.
Network Information
When the app connects to Desk Marathi, Firebase, YouTube, Google Fonts,
or another linked service, those services may receive technical
network information such as:
- IP address
- Browser or application user-agent information
- Request date and time
- Requested page or resource
- General device and operating-system information
Desk Marathi’s website server may retain standard server access logs
for security, reliability, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
Locally Stored Information
The app stores certain information locally on your device, including:
- Cached news articles and images
- Bookmarked or saved articles
- Selected news categories
- Notification preferences
- Theme preference
- Reading text-size preference
- Onboarding completion status
This locally stored information is used to provide offline reading,
faster loading, personalization, and application preferences.
Bookmarks and preferences are not associated with a Desk Marathi
user account.
2. How We Use Information
Information processed by the app may be used to:
- Display Desk Marathi news and media
- Deliver notifications requested by the user
- Remember categories and application preferences
- Support bookmarked and offline articles
- Improve application reliability and performance
- Diagnose errors and technical problems
- Protect the application and website against abuse
- Open the appropriate article following a notification
- Maintain compatibility across supported Android devices
We do not use the app to sell personal information.
3. Firebase Services
The Desk Marathi app uses:
- Firebase Core
- Firebase Cloud Messaging
- Firebase Installations
These services are provided by Google LLC.
Firebase Cloud Messaging and Firebase Installations may process an
application installation identifier, application version and limited
device metadata to deliver notifications and maintain the messaging service.
Information handled by Firebase is subject to Google’s applicable
privacy terms and policies:
4. News Content and Images
The app downloads news articles, categories, author information,
images and related media from

Downloaded content may be temporarily cached on the user’s device
for performance and offline availability.
The app may also display promotional or advertising banner images
supplied through the Desk Marathi website.
5. YouTube and Embedded Content
Some articles may include YouTube videos or other externally hosted
content. External content is loaded only when required to display
or play that content.
When you interact with embedded content, the external provider may
collect technical information according to its own privacy policy.
6. Google Fonts
The app may retrieve the Noto Sans Devanagari font from Google Fonts
to display Marathi text consistently.
When the font is requested, Google may receive technical network
information such as the IP address, device information and request details.
7. External Links
The app may open:
- Desk Marathi website pages
- News article links
- YouTube content
- Email applications
- Sharing applications
- Other external websites or applications
Once you leave the Desk Marathi app, the privacy practices of the
external website or application apply. We are not responsible for
the privacy practices or content of third-party services.
8. Sharing Features
When you select the Share option, Android displays compatible
applications installed on your device.
Desk Marathi does not automatically send the selected article to
another service. Information is shared only after you select a
destination and confirm the action.
9. Permissions
The app may request the following Android permissions:
- Internet access
- Network-state access
- Notification permission
- Vibration and wake lock
The app does not request access to your location, contacts, camera,
microphone, call history, SMS messages or files stored outside the
app’s private storage.
10. Advertising
The app may display promotional banner images supplied through the
Desk Marathi website.
The current version does not integrate a behavioural advertising SDK.
Promotional banners may link to or promote third-party businesses
or services.
Desk Marathi does not use the app to collect an Android Advertising ID
for personalised advertising.
11. Data Sharing
We do not sell users’ personal information.
Limited technical information may be processed by service providers
required to operate app functionality, including:
- Google Firebase, for installation management and notifications
- Google and YouTube, for fonts and video content
- Website hosting and content-delivery providers
- Services selected by the user when sharing an article
12. Data Retention
Locally cached articles and images may remain on the device until:
- The cache expires
- You clear the cache from the app
- Android clears application storage
- The app is uninstalled
Saved articles may remain until you remove them, clear application
data, or uninstall the app.
13. Your Choices
You can:
- Decline notification permission
- Disable notifications through Android settings
- Disable breaking-news notifications inside the app
- Unfollow individual news categories
- Clear cached news content
- Remove saved articles
- Clear all app data through Android settings
- Uninstall the application
Because Desk Marathi does not provide user accounts, there is no
account profile to delete.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect
information handled through the app.
The app communicates with supported services using encrypted HTTPS
connections. However, no electronic transmission or storage system
can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
15. Children’s Privacy
Desk Marathi is a general news application and is not specifically
directed toward children.
We do not knowingly request personal information directly from
children through the app.
